I can't remember which year it was when I first met Anthony (we always knew him as Ant), but it was in the 60's.
We both went to Burton Grammar School (he was 2 years below me) and to Winshill Church where we were members of Young Church, which was mainly run by the curates (Brian Law and David Broom) along with adult helpers (often Parents).
We had many happy times there going on outings and playing footbal against other church teams.
I remember that he was a founder member of a 'pop' group called The Undecided, as their drummer - his dad (Arthur) was their 'roadie'. I saw a number of their gigs, including one at the Grammar School.
He also came with me and my parents on two holidays to the Isle of Wight and Blackpool.
He was my best man at my wedding to Linda, and I was his at his wedding to Marie.
As both our families grew up we regularly saw each other and had wonderful times together. The most memorable of which was when he, Marie and boys came joined us in France for our son's wedding. I can still picture him cooking breakfast for all our friends that were there on the morning of the wedding and, later in the week, playing guitar at a BBQ we had one evening.
Although we have not seen him that much in later years, we have lots of happy memories of times we shared with him.
It is so sad when someone as young as him passes away.
RIP Ant, we will always remember you.
